What’s up, fellow Obsessives?

Hard to believe, but this is already the 10th issue of OTF Obsessed!

I hope you’re enjoying the newsletter as much as I’m putting it together each weekend. It’s definitely made my OTF experience even deeper than it has been.

But I’m always looking for ways to make the newsletter better. Have a suggestion? Just hit reply on this email and let me know!

🍊 The Path To 2,000 Classes! 2️⃣K

I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve run, played pickup basketball or walked my dog.

I can definitely tell you how many times I’ve doing an Orangetheory workout — 677 as this newsletter hits your inboxes.

The decision to make class counts so available to us via the app was a good business choice for OTF. Getting that number to increase each day by one is a strange motivator for me (and many others) and the goal posts are always moving as you progress from big round number to big round number.

And no one appreciates those big round numbers like a fellow OTF member. That’s because we know all the hard work and dedication that are behind them. There are no shortcuts or hacks. It’s not something you can do in a few weeks, a few months or even a few years.

You have to make a conscious decision to work hard for an hour hundreds and even thousands of times to get there.

With that in mind, I loved getting an email and photo from Amy-Marie Lemanski last week telling me she had hit 2,000 classes. I wrote back and asked her how she hit 2K.

Here’s what Amy-Marie wrote back:

I am pretty proud of 2,000 workouts! I am proud to say I am a founding member of my studio …I sipped the Kool-aid that first week and never looked back.

My tips to getting there…

  • You need to make YOU a priority. I schedule all my classes in advance so they are on my calendar and I have reminder notifications set. I am self-employed so I can set my schedule and am able to go to a 7:20am class M-F and I don’t take any meetings until 9am (virtually) or 9:30am if you want to meet in person.

  • It’s a mindset as well...if I have it on my calendar, I am more inclined to do it vs “dropping in” on a class and dodging the multitude of excuses to not go…I’m tired, I’m crabby, I’m going to Happy Hour, my kids have X, Y & Z going on, etc….

  • It’s taken me almost 14 years to get to 2,000 classes. I started out doing 3 classes/week and now I do 5/week. I also travel for work so there are several weeks in the course of a year that I am not able to get to a studio to workout. I do check in every city that I am going to if there is a studio within walking distance (since I don’t have a vehicle when traveling) and will bring workout clothes/shoes if I know I will have time to sneak away for a class.

  • I will admit that with the days getting shorter and it being dark in the AMs, there are plenty of times that I groan when the alarm goes off and dread getting out of bed. BUT, by the time I in my car and headed to the studio I am looking forward to the workout.

Congratulations to Amy-Marie!

Now onto 2,500!

☠️ Hell Week T-shirt Design Revealed! ☠️

I love the Hell Week lettering and the tracker on the edge of the cauldron. Not as crazy about the witches hat, which makes it a little too Halloween.

📆 The Week Ahead

📣 Coach Day Workout (Monday) Celebrate National Coach’s Day with this workout that I was unfortunately unable to find any intel about.

🚣 1,000 Meter Row Benchmark (Wednesday) It’s not a sprint, yet it’s not quite the endurance event that the 2K row is. I’ll plan to go strong and steady to start but save the best for last. What’s your plan?

🥇 Milestones and PRs!

• Jenna posted her best .25 mile last week, breaking the two-minute mark at 1:57!

• Scott conquered his Dri-Tri in a personal-best 44:32.

“This was my fourth time doing the Dri-Tri and I felt the best by far at just being prepared. The more you do this, the more you know what to expect in terms of pacing and when to push. I’m already looking forward to try number five and beating this time.”

• Frances finished first in her age group at a local 5K at age 77.

“I couldn’t have done it without OTF!” she writes.
